Miguel Guerreiro is a Film, Television and Theatre Director based in the UK with two decades of experience in continuing and prime time drama.
Trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, Miguel cut his teeth directing professional broadcast drama in 2006 at the age of twenty-four. Since then he has worked on many prime time series, including some international co-productions shot across several continents. Among them is LAÇOS DE SANGUE, co-produced by Brazilian TV Globo, which won the Emmy for Best Serial Drama at the 39th International Emmy Awards in New York.
Development projects include the feature film adaptation of BLIND EYE, a full length stage play performed in London and in Europe — where a Nazi war crimes trial in the early 1980s is the motor which drives a story of the conflicting interests of a human rights lawyer and a peace negotiator, and of the legacies parents leave their adult offspring — and the adaptation into a television/streaming mini-series of the Portuguese novel AS LONGAS NOITES DE CAXIAS, which deals with one of the darkest aspects of the former dictatorship: the persecution and torture by the regime’s political police.
For the last six years, he has been working continuously in the UK, directing multiple blocks of EASTENDERS and CASUALTY for BBC, CORONATION STREET and EMMERDALE for ITV, and HOLLYOAKS for Channel 4 — more than 115 episodes altogether — including some major story peaks and stunts.
He has also directed several theatre productions in London.
Miguel is a member of Directors UK.
